Thanks for sharing your excitement of your first.
I think I can safely say we all can relate to what your feeling right now.
Welcome to the journey..
The other cool thing is you get it with every build!
Really nice!!!   You had a lot of nerve going with BRW on your first.

Ron
Yep...I sorta said the same thing when Steve showed me the work in progress. My comment used a different part of the anatomy...and it was plural!

Steve...A few questions about the B&S wood:
...What is the core material used for a BRW laminate?
...How thick is the entire structure?
...How thick are the veneers?
...Any danger of sanding through?

Perhaps John Hall can shed more light on the material.

With my new-found belief based on experience that B&S add little or nothing to the tone of the guitar, this might be an interesting material to consider. I'd also be interested in its density since I also feel that a light weight guitar is important.

I really like this guitar...you should be very proud!

Whoa...that rules! Beautiful guitar, and I have to echo the sentiments above..."that's a first guitar?" Sheez.

Isn’t it a great feeling when you first strum one. Put that in a pill and I’ll be hooked for life.

Great job for a 1st effort. Good idea to stay with a proven design and keep the inlays and bindings simple.

If your bass doesn't balance out after a few days, you might want to try a bone saddle. It could be just the ticket.

Wow! I am contemplating building my own guitar, it's something I have wanted to do for a long time and your first attempt is certainly inspiring. Having built your first guitar, what advice would you give to someone starting out?
Also what is the style of that guitar, etc? I have been trying to decide what body i want to start building first. I current play a Taylor 300 and pretty much like the feel of it. I really need to learn more about the different body styles.
Any advice you can offer would be appreciated. Thanks!

Steve,

Let me add my congratulations.  It looks great!!  So, I guess it’s official - Chicago has another guitar maker in it’s midst.

Thanks everyone for your very kind words - I am just pickin' and grinnin' from all this fun. Especially thanks to Steve K and Billie's comments!

Questions: Rod T. The saddle is ebony. Just an experiment without much forethought. I didn't even think of a black nut!

Barry: Might have to try bone all round - see above.

JJ: I will take some offcut measurements tonight and report back regarding the back and sides thickness.

Evan: Dude, you will have to come to Chicago to play it! Good news is that "Me casa es su casa" Just call first!

Bama: Welcome to the OLF! My advice is to buy Cumpiano, read it, and watch this forum. There are great people here who will give you all the advice you need and even the shirt off their back! Great builders and great people.

Well done, Steve. It looks exceptionally good for a first effort. It's pretty cool too, that you got some immediate feedback from a good player.

And, Bama5150, welcome to the OLF!

Great looking guitar Steve .  I'm glad it sounds sweet too.
If you are thinking it should sound better but Justin says it sounds better than his top of the line you are probably hooked and should be rightfully proud.

Nice job! I am getting ready to finish # 2, which is entirely from sratch. What an ordeal it's been. Good luck on the next one. You picked a good supplier.
